What is instant life insurance?
If you want the best life insurance you can get in the shortest amount of time possible, an instant life insurance policy may be the perfect product for you. Unlike traditional life insurance policies, you can get insurance coverage incredibly quickly after completing an application online or over the phone.
Like a term life policy, instant life insurance can be less costly, and these policies typically run set lengths of time. Usually, you can purchase an instant policy that will last for:
- 10 years
- 15 years
- 20 years
Bear in mind that while you will not have to undergo a medical exam, you must still be honest about your medical history. For example, let’s say that you passed away during the policy’s contestability period and your insurance company learned that you had not been honest about your health during your initial application. The policy could then be canceled, and your beneficiaries would not be able to receive a death benefit.
That being said, if you want cheap life insurance for seniors, no medical exam, and an easy application process, a guaranteed acceptance life insurance policy may be a better fit for you.
Now that you know how an instant life insurance policy functions, let’s take a look at which companies sell instant life insurance policies.

Who sells instant life insurance policies?
Although this product is new to the insurance industry, there are already several reputable insurance companies that carry instant life products:
- Bestow
- Brighthouse Financial
- Erie Insurance
- Fabric
- Haven
- Ladder Life
- Lincoln Financial
Of course, each company takes its own approach to provide instant life coverage, so you will need to examine each one if you want to discover which company could be the best match for your insurance needs.
Bestow
Bestow was founded in 2016 and currently has an A+ rating from A.M. Best. You will not have to worry about talking to anyone about your medical history as the application process is entirely online. You can choose to purchase as little as $50,000 or as much as $1.5 million in coverage if you are between 18-60 years old.
Now, Bestow does not offer any riders, so you will not be able to customize your policy, and you must be aware that if you have any pre-existing health conditions, Bestow may deny your application. (For more information, read our “Do riders increase the cost of life insurance?“).
Brighthouse Financial
With Brighthouse Financial’s SimplySelect instant life insurance policy, you could purchase anywhere from $100,000-2 million in coverage within minutes if you are 25-50 years old. Brighthouse is another financially strong company and has earned an A rating from A.M. Best.
The SimplySelect policy offers you some flexibility, too. For example, you can add an accelerated death benefit rider onto this policy, but even more exciting is the fact that the SimplySelect plan is convertible. A convertible policy can be changed for a term to permanent life insurance, but be prepared for your rates to increase if you do convert your policy. (For more information, read our “How to Increase Your Life Insurance Coverage“).
Erie Insurance
Erie Insurance has provided insurance policies for decades and has an A+ rating from A.M. Best. This illustrious company offers instant insurance to individuals between the ages of 18-55 with coverage amounts ranging between $10,000 -500,000.
Now, while your plan could go into effect the day you applied, Erie may require some applicants to take a medical exam. But, on the bright side, an accelerated death benefit rider comes with your policy at no extra cost to you.
Fabric
Fabric’s instant life insurance policies are issued by Vantis Life, which, in turn, is owned by Penn Mutual. Vantis Life has an A+ rating from A.M. Best, so you can trust that Fabric will be able to make good on any insurance claims.
If you are between 21-60 years old, you can apply for an instant life insurance policy through Fabric. You’ll be able to choose a coverage amount between $100,000-$1.5 million. Now, like Erie, you may be asked to take a medical exam, but you will also get an accelerated death benefit rider automatically.
You will even have the chance to convert the policy into permanent coverage up until you are 65. Not only that, but Vantis Life will donate up to $100,000 to charity if you pass away while your policy is still active. (For more information, read our “How to Donate Life Insurance Proceeds to Charity“).
Haven
Haven Life has an A++ rating from A.M. Best and allows applicants to choose between as little as $25,000 in coverage or as much as $3 million. Plus, Haven Life has two instant life insurance policies to offer you. These plans are called Haven Simple and Haven Term.
You can apply for both of these policies online; however, these policies have different age restrictions. If you are between the ages of 20-55, you will be eligible to apply for Haven Simple, and if you are between 20-64 years of age, you can apply for a Haven Term policy.
You should also know that no medical exam is required if you apply for a Haven Simple policy; however, some applicants run the risk of being requested to take a medical exam if they apply for a Haven Term policy.
Now, both of these policies come with two riders at no expense to you. These include an accelerated death benefit and an accidental death benefit which, if you were to pass away in an accident, would out an additional lump sum to your beneficiaries.
Ladder Life
Ladder Life Insurance has an A+ rating from A.M. Best and offers applicants between $100,000-3 million with an instant life insurance policy. You can apply for a policy through the company’s website or mobile, and Ladder Life Insurance offers instant life insurance policies throughout the United States. If you are between the ages of 20-60, you can buy a policy that will last for 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 years.
Lincoln Financial
With coverage amounts between $100,000-1 million, an instant life insurance policy through Lincoln Financial can certainly help you provide for your loved ones if you are between the ages of 18-60. You can apply for your instant life policy over the phone or online. You’ll even be able to convert your policy to permanent coverage until you turn 70.
