If you book a trip with a protection plan that is made available by Turo, then you don’t need personal insurance coverage.

If you do have personal insurance that provides coverage, Turo’s liability insurance provider will supplement your personal coverage. It varies by country and is different in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

According to Turo, in the United States, Turo will cover up to $750,000 of supplemental insurance. In the United Kingdom, coverage is up to £20,000,000, and it’s up to $2,000,000 in Canada.

Turo Car Insurance As An Owner

Your car insurance will cover a friend who borrows your car, but when someone rents it, that’s business use.

Most private car insurance policies do not cover the business use of your car. Some car insurance companies, however, will allow you to purchase special policy protection that covers business use.

Your primary car insurance company will likely not cover you if you offer it on Turo. However, Liberty Mutual is one insurance company that offers supplemental coverage for Turo hosts.
